Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 48th fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on April 29 (Tuesday) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after two years. The previous encounter between the two sides was held on April 29, 2024 & turned out to be one-sided, as the defending champions cruised to a seven-wicket win over DC in Kolkata.

Axar Patel led-side is coming into this match after a defeat against RCB at their home turf & reigning champions’ previous clash against Punjab Kings was called off due to rain.

However, the current standings tell a different story, DC are edging closer to a playoff berth & KKR are on the verge of elimination. It is worth noting that this fixture will be crucial in terms of making it to the top four.

DC & KKR’s IPL 2025 Journey So Far

Delhi Capitals have secured victory in six matches out of the nine that they have so far participated in and lost three, while the knights have won three & one culminated in a no result.

DC & KKR’s Qualification Scenario

Delhi Capitals have emerged as one of the most dynamic sides in the IPL 2025. With 12 points from nine matches and five games remaining, they are well-placed to secure a playoffs berth. Just two more wins & they will climb to 16 points which would most likely seal their berth in the playoffs with a strong net run rate of +0.657. Even with 14 points, Axar Patel led-side could still secure a place into the top four depending on other results and net run rate scenarios.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ playoff hopes this season suffered a major setback following their rain-affected clash against Punjab Kings. With just 6 points from 8 games, defending champions need to win at least 4 of their remaining 5 matches to so much as even stand a chance of reaching the threshold of 14–16 points in order to place themselves in the top four. The Kolkata-based franchise can take inspiration from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who made it through to the last four with 14 points last year. Notably, RCB is the only team to secure a berth in the playoffs with said points under it’s belt when the league expanded to 10 teams since the 2022 edition.
